Yes, it does look like they are licensing more med-net repeaters at least on the west side. Olympic and AMR BLS units can still be heard on HEAR. I have yet to see any rigs with UHF antennas other that whats used for dispatch.

I was told state law requires all (county, city?) ambulances to have mednet radios. This was while we were in communication with those coordinating some areas...

Clallam County uses mednet extensively from various areas. As analog cell phones go away these systems will be used much more.

You are right, there is some sort of requirement to have mednet, but on the west side of the mountains most EMS agencies use cell phones to communicate to the receiving hospital. ALS line or BLS line.

Ive tried to get our customers to at least keep up on how the system operates. When all hell breaks loose, those cell phone towers are going to be busy, if they work at all...

Any other info on WHEERS? I havent heard much.

In Clallam County Olympic Amb uses a med channel every now and then for Comms between units and their company, the medics on my Dept use cell phones to talk to the hospital, i have yet to see or hear 1 use a radio on a med channel in the back of the rigs to contact OMH (not saying they probably don't). Forks Ambulance uses med channel 5 (463.100) to dispatch.
