I noticed that Algona/Pacific PD is dispatched with Auburn PD , I take it than I have to listen to all Auburns radio traffic than as well? What talkgroups does anyone recommend for Pacific Fire? Is coverage better on the King County system or ValleyComm system for my area? Just moved here from the Snohomish County area so please excuse my ignorance. |

If you think that listening to Auburn Pd is an inconvenience you’re really not going to like the fire department answer. To listen to Pacific Fire you will need to listen to Fire 1 thru Fire 7 on the Valley Comm system. You will hear every fire department in South King County ( Federal Way, Auburn, Kent, Renton, Des Moines, Burien, North Highline, Mountain View, and a couple of others I’m sure I’m forgetting) Fire 1 is the dispatch talk group, 2 – 7 are tactical. You will find that most tactical is on 2 thru 4, 5-7 is only used when its really busy. You should find that the Valley Comm control channel will work best. The fire units that you want to listen for are in the 30’s, 38 is that Algona units. The lower 30’s are Auburn units. You can find most of this information on this site. |

Thanks for the reply , It is a lot of chatter when the wife (XYL) is around, but I do get to turn it up when she hears the sirens go by.. thats a plus at least . |

I noticed you are in Algona and requested information on Pacific fire units. I spoke with the City of Algona re fire coverage a while back and Algona actually is actually contracted with Auburn for fire protection. The usual responding units will be Engine 33, Aid 32 and Medic 6. The other Auburn units (Engine 32,321,31,311, Ladder 31 and Aid 321,31,311) can also be dispatched. As I recall I have also heard Sumner FD dispatched on a mutual aid basis on large fires. Gampawayne |

I'm pretty sure that Medic 5 is at Station 14 in Renton and Medic 7 is at Station 76 in Kent unless they've both moved recently. |

According to the King county website there is no M13. I thought I heard it before but I could be wrong. Nick |

Medic 13 is only staffed when staffing is very heavy, poor weather (Snow) and during large events in the south end that might require extra medic units. So you will hear of medic 13 at times. They do station it out of Station 66. |

I have also at times heard M60 which I am guessing is when they are really busy and they do a call back to staff reserve medic units. Medic 60 is the reserve medic unit at Auburn's station 31. Nick |

You will hear medic 60 from time to time. Medic 60 is the second medic unit out of Medic 6 qaurters. So you will all so hear (medic 40, 50, 60 ,70, 80). Most of the time when you hear these units it will be around 9am. That is shift change time for the medics, and if there out on a call during that time the on-coming crew will staff the back-up rig. They will cover the other calls that come in and allow the off going crew to get back and go home. |
