It was my understanding that Shannon Ambulance Company had been aquired by Rural/Metro. This was some time ago.
Yesterday, as I was driving through Auburn, I saw an orange and white ambulance approaching (non-emergency.) It was marked as "Shannon Ambulance". It appeared to have a crew of two.
Is Shannon Ambulance still operating, and if so, where?
Many thanks,
Gampawayne

I forgot one of the most important part of the question. If Shannon Ambulance is operating, does anyone know what frequencies (or frequency) they are using?

I worked for the towing side a loooong time ago. I believe when Bonnie and Bud (?) divorced (owners) they split the two in half and went their separate ways. If I recall, the MountLake Terrace base sits abandoned. They were using (back then) that new fangled trunked radio system (1989) with the channels marked 'Tiger' & 'Gold', obviously for the repeater locations.

Yes Shannon Ambulance was bought out by Rural/Metro some time ago. When I started with them last March they still had three rigs painted in the Shannon colors. Two of those are now gone. One went to the Brier Police to be used as a command rig I think. Not sure where the other one went. The last one around is the one you saw. It is our back up Critical Care Transport rig (which means it has an RN on board (me)).

I doubt it will go away anytime soon since it is a pretty good rig (aside from the colors).

As for the new fangled radio system, it is the 220 system I have talked about under the "A challenge" thread.

There are still some of the old Shannon Units out there, if you were to look closely you would of saw the words operated by Rural Metro.

Just Like Shoreline Police Cars, Operated by King County Sheriff.

The only Shannon rig left (that is still owned and run by Rural Metro) is rig 24042, my back up rig. I was in it running calls Friday and Saturday.

The name Garth rings a bell somehow. Did he work at Shannon or is he my third cousin once removed? If he is the Garth I'm thinking of he lived around 175 & I-5 back in the 80's.

Sorry -- no. He owns GT Towing in West Seattlle and was a friend of the owner of Shannon Towing.
