The town of Puyallup (Wash.) reportedly is the "first 911 center west of the Mississippi," and was a test site for the technology by AT&T. [But see Nome's claim of Feb. 22, 1968.] |

That is true. But just as the Smith Tower in Downtown Seattle once claimed to be the tallest bulding -- West of the Big Muddy --- It seems very hard to beleive. The City of Puyallup has not been so active --- with construction of a 800 mhz trunking system. The Puyallup PD started out as station KPWP back in the early 1930's on 2442 Khz AM. |
