i did hear SA2 arriving at OMH and a medic requesting radio check; SA2's signal was very strong, probably due to the new repeater?

probably is they have been coming in good lately, i did hear E35 the other day, come to think of it it might have been tuesday or wednesday, they were kinda weak but it was clear enough to make out afew words. i was having trouble understanding dispatch and some units lastnight on the scanner in the house it was pretty garbled, did you have any difficulty in copying traffic on your scanner lastnight bob?

Where are you located Eric? You could be in an overlap zone. The simulacast overlap zones can have some bad areas that can be solved just by moving a few feet.

i was picking up traffic pretty good on the old frequency, an i did move the scanner about 1 foot to the right lastnight, if even that far, and it was doing it alittle bit, but the last tone out they had tonight sounded pretty good, not sure if i solved the problem or if it solved it's self.. and to answer your question palmer, my place sits kind of in a hole, there are defiantly afew overlaps like you mentioned earlier in a post i ''ran into'' some yesterday an today

Well- The system is a simulcast system. This means that there are multiple transmitters that come up when the system is keyed.

Ill link to an article written by K7PP that explains the basics but the ideal of more than on transmitter coming on would be mostly unintelligible if we didn't have control of things somehow.

As you travel from one transmitter capture area to another (where the signals are within 10dB of each other) you are hearing at least two transmitters. Up high in the hills you can hear all three in places.

We have to set things up so that the audio is in phase for as much of these "Overlap areas" as possible so the system can be understood.

As atmospheric conditions change overlap areas can move around a bit so we have to constantly watch to dial things in and hopefully come up with the correct timing to keep things clear... The idea is to be able to travel through an overlap from one transmitter coverage area to the next and not know it...

So what the heck do they use 151.775 for?? It's a business radio channel. Is that for chit chat? I'll hazard a guess -- it's not licensed.

I can honestly say I don't think we've ever used that frequency. In fact, its not even programmed in our radios. So please, disregard that one.

Or...you could scan it, and let us know if you hear anything on it.
