My final project for one of my classes is on "Google Geocoder Web Service: Overlay Data on Maps Using XSLT, KML, and the Google Maps API". I'll use this fire station data as my sample data. Actually I have some more plans too. I'll assume this following list is correct, but there may have been changes/additions/deletions since I made it.

Image

When I finally get around to making the map I'll grab whatever info is on the county pages. If there's still some edits I missed just let me know and I'll fix it.

Ok, curiosity got the better of me. I sent in a public records request today for the equipment list by station. We'll see what comes of it....

Watch out, one of members almost got himself on a terrorist watch list for doing exactly that.

This is what I know for Seattle Fire:

Station 2 - Engine 2, Ladder 4, Aid 2, Battalion 2
Station 3 - Engine 3 (Chief Sealth - Fireboat)
Station 5 - Engine 4 (Chief Leschi - Fireboat), Engine 5
Station 10 - Engine 10, Ladder 1, Aid 5 Unit 77, Staff 10, Safety
Station 14 - Ladder 7, Rescue 1 (Formerly Rescue 14), Aid 14, Reserve Ladder
Station 18 - Engine 18, Ladder 8, Medic 18, Battalion 4
Station 26 - Engine 26, Air 260
Station 27 - Engine 27, USAR/MMST
Station 28 - Engine 28, Ladder 12, Medic 28
Station 36 - Engine 36, Unit 99
Harborview - Medic 1, Medic 10, Medic 44

You are correct in the assumption that engine numbers correspond with the station numbers, it's the ladder number designators that don't match up. I have a friend that is a battalion chief with Seattle and have contacted him to see if he can provide me with a current designator list for all of their stations.

That would have been me that almost or did get me on a terrorist list. So adhere to wilrobnson's warning, be very very careful.

Just want to confirm...
If I read correctly, Station 10 is Station 10 and Headquarters is Headquarters, and not Station 10 is Headquarters.

DeMorgan’s Theorem, anyone?

New Station 10 is Station 10, the fire alarm center and the emergency operations center.

Headquarters is the Old Station 10 in Pioneer Square.

Aaaah! More conflicting/strange data!

Station 2: Medic 2? Don't think one exists.

CAPITOL HILL STATION 25: ENGINE 25, LADDER 10, AID 25, MOBILE VENTILATION UNIT, BATTALION 2, 22, RESERVE LADDER
"22" is? And Battalion 2 also is shown at Station 2. There's a few Battalion X, XX. 2 BCs at a station?

Safety = Reserve HazMat ??

P25?

What's at Headquarters?

How are the "reserve" units dispatched?

I meant Aid 2 at Station 2 not Medic 2

Battalion 2 is at Station 25, Battalion 22 is the reserve battalion unit.
so Battalion xx is the reserve at each location.

Power 25 I forgot to list and is at station 25.

The reserve hazmat unit is a reserve hazmat unit.

Safety is the safety officer.

Reserve units do have numbers but are not usually dispatched. Reserve units are usually only placed in service when replacing first line apparatus. I will try to find a list of the reserve apparatus numbers.

When they're in service to supplement the normal crews (Major incidents or busy periods, and possibly for training), they're assigned 8X ids. You'll see this a lot with aid units: The common ones are Aid 82 as a second aid car working out of station 2, and Aid 85 out of (I believe) station 17.

Someone needs to verify this but SFD E3 was the Alki, did the Chief Sealth get put back in service after it's makeover?

Also I think that SFD Rescue One is a new apparatus
(red), and Rescue 14 was white with blue logo & " Techincal Rescue" on the side.

Also some time ago I saw an "Air 240" at SFD station 24, that may be fairly new too.

The Alki was recently taken out of service and replaced with the much faster Chief Seattle and is at Station 3 located at Fisherman's Terminal in Ballard. This will give a much faster response to the Lake Union and Lake Washington areas. In the past, there was always 1 engineer station aboard the Alki and when they were toned out, the engineer would get the boat started and wait for the boat crew to arrive, who were responding from Station 5 in a Chevy Suburban with the designator of E4 on the placard. Engine 1 could also respond from Station 5 as it is much smaller and faster than the Chief Leschi or Chief Seattle. The Alki was taken to the south end of Lake Union and is moored next to the former fireboat Duwamish.

Rescue 1 is new as it was put in service in the early part of 2008. It is much larger and carries more rescue and technical equipment than Rescue 14 which is now the reserve unit. The new unit is red with gold trim just like the rest of the apparatus in Seattle.

Air 240 was also put in service last year and it is almost identical to Rescue 1 in the style of the unit along with the color scheme of red.
