I'm hearing a solid tone (for several hours now) on the "WSP Academy" frequency with the default NAC of 293.

They're doing some coverage tests.

Was it the 1011 Hz pattern?
Might be coverage mapping.

For us ignat's, that mean there is a truck driving around taking receive readings to find the P25 dead spots?

While I can't say for certain that the 1011 pattern is the best or most common or anything like that.
It is one of the methods used for coverage mapping.
TX the 1011hz pattern, set up your Anritsu S412E for a map of the area you are going to check, settings for 1011 bit error rate coverage mapping, and as you drive around it takes thousands of readings and plots them on the map.
And yes, the P25 coverage will be different (lets say) than analog.
There are other coverage measuring "schemes", but this is the one I use.
Sounds very much like someone doing the 1000 cycle tone SINAD test on analog.
Do "before" with SINAD, then P25 BER test and compare the coverage.

I turned on the radio and thought, in quick succession:

-Damn that's annoying...

-Sgt is probably getting madder by the second...

-Wait, who's using Car-4?

-Waaaaaaiiiittttt, who has a DTMF mic???

-Fricking techs. I wonder if there's a way to blame Sean?
