Sorry to post again but I had a few questions:

1. Is it possible to show Radio IDs on a Pro-106 for a conventional P25 frequency? I know there's a trick for the Uniden scanners programming it as a single frequency trunk system, but I haven't found anything for the 106 or the PSR500.

2.I thought all the C2C frequencies were going to remain analog? Does this mean that Smokey will be getting a new P25 radio as well since they usually use Car 1 around here?

3.Yesterday while they were testing on the Thurston frequency there were several NACs that showed (444, 441, 000) Does anyone know if this was just an error on my scanner or has this been seen elsewhere?

What are the best settings for a PRO-106 for the P25 WSP frequencies using WIN500?

WSP has not gone P25 in my area yet so I can't try it out here.

I have......

Mod = AUTO

Squelch Mode = NAC

Squelch Code = Search

Is this going to work OK?

That should work just fine. I programmed them in separately:
The first being:
Mod=NFM
Squelch mode=CTCSS
Squelch Code=Search

The second:
Mod=Auto
Squelch Mode=NAC
Squelch Code=Search

I did this for Thurston, both Pierce, and the C2C frequencies with alarms to play when they first received P25 traffic to get my attention.

How are people programming their XTL/XTS radios for WSP? I have the CTCSS and the NAC set. I'm thinking to have both in case they drop to analog...?

Ya. This one works.

Cool, thanks for verifying.

EDIT: Forgot to add. Yesterday I heard analog testing on the NLEC (155.475) and today I caught a few digital bursts on the same frequency. I was on my 346 so I'm not sure what was said.

Maj0r I noticed you were not getting the units either on your video..? Are you able to hear the units and not just the dispatcher?

I have my APX set for mixed mode with PL (if applicable) for the analog side- and F7E for the digital side. Until I see consistent NACs, I'm going to go the F7E route. The only time F7E burned me was when I was visiting PDX- King County North and Clark County use the same frequency, so WSP Vancouver was coming in as North King. :lol:

I can in Thurston if they're close enough and an occasional unit in Lewis and Pierce if I'm using my external VHF antenna. With analog they came in but with static. Still, you could usually make out what they're saying. With the new P25 I notice the scanner stops on the frequency but won't break squelch if they're in a fringe area. You can see that a few times in the video. If I tune the same frequency in analog I can hear the digital noise. It's just not strong enough for the scanner to decode it, but it knows it's there. Sometimes it'll distort really bad too. I'm sure this is better on an actual radio as opposed to a scanner.

Nah, it actually sucks on the XTS as well. It needs enough signal to decode properly.

Okay that's what I'm doing as well but I'm using the D10 NAC. I think it just comes down to signal strength...

Also multipath. If your receiver is hearing a signal with too much multipath you will have the same kinds of issues as if their was too weak of a signal.

Keep your scanner and radios in NAC search mode. Had a NAC of 293 on Car 1 today. Whoever it was said he could hear radio but radio can't hear him. I wish I could key up a radio and tell him "it's because you're transmitting with a wrong NAC!"

You're very welcome

That surprises me. I figured they'd have a better DSP. I can't tell the difference between weak signal and multipath.

Tacoma E/W, dispatcher only.

Same setup in analog a week ago and I could hear mobiles fine.

Wondering if they went semi-duplex, no repeater?

XTS3K, FTR.

Multipath is a p-25 killer.

I finally stuck Tacoma in my Astro Spectra today. (deck is under the seat and hard to get to).

Ive not heard one mobile but from my location that does not surprise me.

I have them Programmed in my XTS 5000 and pick up WSP just fine. Just hate haven to be close to hear the field units. Dispatcher comes in clear.
