Here in PDX for a few days. Audio sounds decent, but not as good as it should be.

According to a source I have working with the Vancouver sites, they are still adjusting equipment based upon reports from dispatchers and patrol officers. Coverage is overall about the same as the old analog footprint.

You will hear dispatchers still doing a test count at idle times and also hear even Vancouver talking to Goldendale directly.

As for Skagit and Whatcom counties, that area might be one of the areas where WSP will go to the IWN due to US CBP Sector Blaine being there.

Heard Spokane analog on the way to work this morning, and digital on the way home. My audio on the PSR-800 sounds terrible. Sounds like they're talking from a dimension that's folding in on itself. :D

I've only sporadically listened to P25 on this scanner so far, so I'll have to look and see if there isn't some tuning I can do to remedy the duck voice.

I can tilt my Astro Saber and it sounds worse or better. One of the Kelso mobiles and one of the Van mobiles had an ID of 1, the others were 6 digits.

I noticed that as well. It looked as if one of the dispatchers for Vancouver had one of the 130xxx IDs

heh, I'm finding that to be the case, at least with digital. I've been pretty happy with it otherwise.

Same radio IDs in Dist. 4. All mobiles so far are showing an ID of 1, and the console is 13xxxx.

How ironic. the tech in Spokane is very outspoken about sound quality. This must be killing him right now...

Motorola radios with the H14 option (digital ID display) will display the P25 or MDC1200 ID of whoever is speaking.

Dang it.
Even 100 miles away I can pick up the signal.
Of course the V8000 I'm listening to can't decode.
Oh wait, I've got a BK dph laying around somewhere...

Had the day off so I've been listening off and on all day while I was doing other stuff. I may be making it up, but the audio sounds a lot better to me this afternoon. I've heard a lot of test counts and "call xxx if your radio hasn't been reprogrammed" so I imagine they're still mid-switch and tweaking things all over.

More and more radio IDs are coming through as well. A few mobiles still transmitting 1, but most are transmitting 7-digit 13xxxxx IDs.
