My understanding from a Sound Transit source says they expect to be done with re-banding possibly by the 12 of June 2010. If and when I get the Freq, I will post them. I believe the trunking talk groups will be the same? If anyone else has any info, please post for "Link Light Rail"
Thanks

Wrong. The FRA may be done by then. Figure at least 2 years and more like 3.

So if you have a BC246 and you have rebanded the radio already.
When this whole process of rebanding is complete will my BC 246 radio still work the way it does now and receives all of King County Police and fire.

Probably not, because they're going to go with a shuffled band plan. I don't think the hard key will make much of a difference though.

So I take it the days of people monitoring King County Police and fire are limited.

As long as the receive frequency is predictable it shouldn't change the ability to listen, right?

It will require a combination of:
Firmware from your scanner-of-choice vendor that supports shuffled bandplan
+
Knowledge of Freq vs. DFA Mapping (or whatever its called in MotoSpeak)

Until then, we are busted back to the dark ages, monitoring raw trunks at best.

I predict a scanner logging app will allow us to map the freqs before a firmware becomes available.
I will wager 6 MX channel elements on this prediction.

Any takers?

The frequencies will be predictable, yes, but determining which frequency is assigned which channel number will require some work. And who knows how often the system managers will "renumber" the channels. They'll be able to reprogram radios over the air.
