In this area, a digital scanner doesn't get you much. However, the 396/996XT does have some nifty features. Namely, it can be programed with *ALL* of the KC talkgroup IDs - unlike the older models.
It is nice to have a digital scanner if you travel outside the state. More and more agencies are converting to digital P25.
