The KE9669 call is for all the DNR portable radios. They give station identification when they're done talking because none of the repeaters have automatic IDers.

On the west side, they've been changing from State A, B, C... to State Thurston, Kitsap, Issaquah... at the same time they go from PL to DCS. The letter identified the PL tone, and which got reused across the state. I'll bet the DCS codes are unique.

Thanks for the info! I will pay more attention when I travel across state to see if they are doing the same in some areas east of the mountains. I'm guessing what you meant in your statement I quoted, is that they started switching to DCS instead of PL at the same time they started using the different designators?! Obviously from Mike's post, they are still using PL there.

Calispell Peak SE of Colville- Latitude: 48.43694 Longitude: -117.50139- is spelled with a 'C'.

Yes, we are on the same page! For whatever reason, Calispell Pk., is northwest of Calispell Lake, which is southwest of the Kalispel Indian Reservation at Usk! My bad!!! :oops: :stupid:
