This information came from Mark at SERS. East County Fire is the only TG or freq. 154.235 that can be tansmitted on two differant towers at the same time or one or the other. All I know is last saturday we could barely make out what SNOPAC was saying in our rig, and no traffic what so ever on our old VHF (154.235) On Sunday morning everything was loud and clear. This is what Mark suspected was going on.

Yes - if the dispatcher is selecting two transmitters SIMULTANEOUSLY on the same frequency, then I guess the "Multi-Select" function would apply and be used.

However, I was just clarifying that it doesn't work the same for the Trunking part of the system. The dispatcher may be able to "Multi-Select" multiple talkgroups and even some conventional stuff - however, they cannot use "Multi-Select" to choose what part of the 800 system they are using (East or West).

The dispatcher is not able to select two transmitters simultanieously from the East county fire position. On the VHF side of the house you have the choice of Clearview, or Index.... It is possible that the dispatcher at the time forgot to switch back to clearview, but honestly it really should not have caused any trouble with the audio, as the dispatchers are talking across 800, and VHF with the patch.

Ken is correct on VHF site selection, the dispatcher could easily select an alternate transmitter and then forget to move it back to what is considered the primary site for VHF East Fire. This is not too unusual with Fire disptch because of the two tone paging needs. But then this will be simplified in the months to come as most of the legacy VHF component goes away.

Never trust a FF that hangs with LE and likes blows things up.

Sometimes I think you salavate over the day you get to pull the plug on VHF. All youre doing is costing me a small fortune upgrading my scanner, and antenna equipment.... Not to mention hacking off my wife because I have to add a couple new rigs to my rack.

When that day comes, can I take down the patch, and throw the last set of zone tones for the entire county telling anyone that still has a two-tone pager to meet up at your office, where you can run the gauntlet of Vol FF's whos dept's cant afford to get them scanners? :P

Well since most of your equipment has crystals and those blue glowy things, updating would be a good thing. Besides, your wife will thank me because it might reduce the funds for things that go bang and boom. At least for a day or two...

By the way, that comment I made about the West talk groups sounding better at my place...

You were right, I was wrong...

Crystal clear here now.
