I never hear Engine 33 on the scanner anymore. I hear Engines 31, 32 and 38. I saw what was Engine 33(telesquirt) the other day and it had 38 on it. Does anyone know why this is. On the Valley Regional website it has stations 31-33 and 38 listed.

Now that you mention it I haven't heard Engine 33 is some time. The other evening when the house fire on 24th SE was toned out it was Engines 31, 32 and 38 as well as the aid cars. The only mention for a 33 unit was Marshall 33 was dispatched. When the fatal occured on West Valley Highway on Christmas Eve it was Engines 38 and 32.

A couple of weeks ago I was driving past station 31 and the ladder truck was there marked as "38." The other evening the "City of Pacific" FD (aid thirty eight) aid car was running out of station 31 and seemed to be responding in 31's area. Could they be running one engine short to put new VRFA identification on the units and rotating units through the system as they do it? I don't know.

Also, on 1Jan2008 when Lea Hill becomes part of the City of Auburn (hence VRFA) will station 91 become station 34? I haven't heard.

Just some thoughts,
Gampawayne

I drove past Station 38(pacific) earlier today and Engine 38(telesquirt) and the new engine Pacific bought before the merger were both parked on the apron.

I am not sure what the station on Lea Hill will be numbered. I did drive by the other day and Mountain View has removed their signs from the building. My wife works at GRCC so maybe I will have to take a drive by next time I am up there.

OK, this is what I was advised today.
Former MountainView Fire and Rescue station 91 is now known as/dispatched as a VRFA company, station-engine-aid 34, whichever is appropriate.
Engine 33 has been moved to station 38 and will be dispatched as engine 38. The number 33 has not be discontinued but will be used again in the future.
All VRFA apparatus should have new identifiers/logos in the not too distant future.
I hope this information is useful, it is the latest I could get.

So is station 33 not an active response station at this time?

As I understand it, that is correct. Any calls to which engine 33 would have been dispatched are now routed to station 38. I would think that depending on the location in south Auburn, they could also be dispatching station 32 instead of, or with with station 38.

Station 38 and 34 are now staffed with VRFA firefighters and EMT's.

I drove past station 34/91 a couple of days ago and noted engine 32 (the Telesquirt rig) sitting outside on 312th. It looked as though engine 34 and the aid car were both parked in their bays. VRFA it appears is letting the citizens know that fire protection in that area has changed hands.

I got this from an email I sent to VRFA about station 33.

Station 31 covers the North Auburn area.
Station 32 covers the South Auburn area.
Station 33 is the training facility for the Valley Regional Fire Authority and houses the safety/training station. According to the email Station 33 was established as a temporary response facility. The email also said that Station 33 could be staffed as a response station in the event it is necessary.
Station 34 covers Lea Hill.
Station 3? Future Station to cover Lakeland Hills to be built on A Street.
Station 38 covers Pacific, Algona, Lakeland Hills and some parts of South Auburn.

The last time I saw the telesquirt it was Engine 38.

The VRFA is also planning on adding a ladder truck this year.

Wasn't Station 33 a former GSA station? I seem to remember that Auburn took it over from the feds years ago.

They added Station 33 in 1995. Yes it is in the GSA complex.

As I understand it funding for the ladder truck is part of the bond measure that we should be voting on in February. I have been told that it also includes construction of the Lakeland Hills station and the remodel of two existing stations (may 32 and 34.) I have also been told that the Lakeland Hills station may become "station 33" and the training facility receive a new number.

As far as the Telesquirt, I think I have seen it labeled as 32, 33 and 38. I don't recall ever seeing marked as 31.

I don't know if Aid 31 is out of service or if they are just using Aid 311 (one of the much larger aid cars) to keep it in good running condition, but it seems that 311 has been running in place of 31 for the past couple of days.

Someone mentioned that Station 33 was an old GSA Fire Station? Does anyone know if this was an old Fire Station from the 60's? My Dad was a Federal Firefighter for a short time with GSA Auburn but only remembers running out of an old warehouse?

I drove by Station 34 and it looks like Engines 34, 341 are stationed there. Since it is a two bay station that is all that will be there.

One of the engines in station 34 has kcfd 44 on the front. I am guessing that maybe VRFA received it along with the merger.

Also it seems that the Lakeland Hills Station will actually be in Lakeland Hills instead of on A St.

Fire District 44 had an engine and an aid car assigned to that station. As you guessed they were both transfered to VRFA with the merger. I saw the aid car (former A91) down by station 31 the other day. I was driving down C ST SE recently it appeared that an Aid Car was sitting by the station that used to house Engine 33. Any idea which one that is, and are they still running an Aid Unit out of that station?

I know VRFA has contracted with South King to cover the annexed West Hill area. Do you know which station in Federal Way is primary in that area and the stations location? Also, any idea what VRFA's long term plans are for coverage on the West Hill?
