Regarding the scanners, remember the rumor of using frequency hopping, if true that would make all current scanners useless. The 'track to' information would no longer be carried on the control channel. Both ends know what frequency will be used next and unless you have a Mother M radio, with the key even, you can't track it (with current market scanners).

Bottom line is, P25 is P25.
You will hear unencrypted digital with a true P25 capable scanner/receiver.
You will track a 'standard' P25 trunked system with a trunking P25 scanner.

Not sure if 'shuffled bandplan' is within P25 standard or not, but currently it does not appear any scanner on the market will follow a "shuffled" bandplan.

Garbled isn't what I'd say digital sounds like. Digital sounds like wind noise, or a diesel engine maybe. If you want to hear what digital sounds like on an analog radio, tune to a D-Star HAM repeater and wait for someone to talk.

Frequency hopping will not be used. A shuffed band plan can be implemented (from a technical standpoint). Whether or not they do it, or how often the plan will change is left to be seen.

I heard some digital at Dodge today. It may be anything jumping from site to site (backbone). Local calls each site are unaffected.

I did not hear any BSI/CWID at Dodge??????

Not true. review my previous posts about P25, encryption, and what type of scanner to buy.

I should correct my post to say "digital artifacts" instead of actually receiving "digital." KingCo is analog at the user radio level. So there is no need to upgrade to digital yet.
