heard something interesting last Thursday (9/16/10) at 7:45p.
on FRS ch7 there was a conversation between a medivac ground guy and his dispatcher.

they shot vitals back and forth, asked for gaurdian 1, and the dispatcher told the guy; gaurdian 1 was unavailable at the time.
their conversation even had the wonderful Motorola FRS Talk Confirmation Tone at the end of every sentence.
the transmission came from Lynnwood Shoreline area.

why are they using FRS?

The other problem here is if this isn't a mirror, splatter, intermod or something like it, power output on FRS is limited to 500mW, or .5 W by the FCC.

FRS-07 is also a GMRS 5 W channel.

Guardian 1 is the King County Sheriff's helicopter... The medivac here are Airlift NW, and call themselves Airlift5 or Airlift3... Maybe kids playing?

I know it sounds far fetched, but could be someone filming a low budget movie as well, and simulating radio traffic...

One of your neighbors knows you're a scanner dork and decided to play with you ;)

It's a sales pitch. Don't buy them.

Me too and I'll add that it was probably police or fire explorers. They typically don't have access to real radios so they buy a bunch of FRS/GMRS radios to use for events and such. Some of those kids can even sound more professional than their commissioned counterparts.

When I was active duty we used these radios during training missions.
