Walked by today and all the fences are gone. According to SFD:

On Tuesday, June 22nd, Engine 17, Ladder 9 and Battalion 6 moved back into the newly remodeled Station 17 from temporary quarters located a couple blocks away. The remodel of Station 17 was completed as part of the Fire Facilities Levy. The project began in the Fall of 2008 and the extensive remodel included decontamination facilities, a large training room and a new apparatus bay. Station 17 is located at 1050 NE 50th Street.
Inside I saw an engine (presumably 17), a ladder (presumably 9), some other large apparatus (couldn't tell if it was a ladder or engine), an aid/medic unit, two 'burbans (assuming one was Battalion 6) and an aid unit (might have been a medic). Parked outside the station and not blocking anything was Engine 16. Trying hard not to run me over was Medic 16 (I was on the sidewalk); it pulled up in the driveway and blocked all four doors facing 50th.

The temporary station is mostly gone. There are still three portables on site along with a couple of pallets of cinder blocks and some torn down fences and railings.

Check out the aerial photography of the almost-complete station; Google just bought some new stuff. This particular area was shot on Saturday, May 21st 2010. The temporary facility is located on 11th just south of the 47th intersection.

Tunnel Rescue Unit? Is there there more than one? If not. seems a funny placement as our bigest are downtown (Battery, Mercer at I-5 and I-90)

How about the new Sound Transit tunnel?

How about the new tunnel to replace the Alaskan Way Viaduct?

Plenty of reasons to add a tunnel rescue unit at 17's

From what I understand there are a few tunnel rescue units in Seattle. One at Station 14 in Sodo and one at Station 36.
