This position is responsible for diagnosing electrical and electronic malfunctions on equipment. The incumbent will repair and replace defective components; install new electronic equipment and devices.
This recruitment will be used to fill current vacancies and may be used to create a pool to fill future vacancies, as they become available.

This position is non-exempt (eligible for overtime). Vehicle Maintenance repair facilities operate on a 24 hour, seven day a week basis;Vacancies may be available on day, swing, and graveyard shifts. Work schedules and locations are based on a seniority “pick” system that occurs three times a year. Therefore, you must be able and willing to work any shift and at any location.
Job Duties:
Diagnose electrical and electronic malfunctions on transit coaches and other equipment.
Remove, test, repair and replace defective components and wiring and test circuits.
Test and install new electronic equipment and devices.
Set up and operate various types of specialized electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, volt-ohm meters and signal generators.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills:
Two years of college-level electronics training or completion of military electronics training, AND two years experience troubleshooting and repairing electronic equipment OR an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Experience and skill interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints and technical manuals.
Ability to use a variety of specialized electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, volt-ohm meters and signal generators.
Ability to use large hand tools such as: pneumatic tools, large electronic terminal crimpers.
Ability to safely and effectively measure high voltages (700 volts) with hand-held test equipment.
Supplemental Information:
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Within 90 days of hire, you must qualify to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a passenger endorsement with air brake restriction removed.

Only those candidates who achieve a passing score on the written examination will be invited for an oral board interview. Candidates who successfully complete the interview process will be placed in an eligibility pool that will be used to fill current and future vacancies when they occur. Reference checks, driver’s license reviews, and pre-employment physicals (with drug screens) must be successfully completed before a final offer is made. Positions in this classification are considered safety-sensitive and subject to random drug testing.
