I was recently mtn topping (Mt Pilchuck) and spent 4-5 days monitoring the millitary freqs. in W.WA and wasn't too impressed with what I heard. Mostly a bunch of garbage that I wasn't able to decipher. I don't have a digital radio, (BCT15x and 346xt) so my question. Are you able to listen to military in W.WA or is it all encrypted or digital?

Is there anything worth listening too, or is it a waste of time? I heard some stuff, but nothing I'd write home about. I had some A-6's come over and drop down to Whidbey, so would be cool to listen to their TX's. Is that possible? I'm just wondering if I'm wasting my time. Thanks

Mil air comm's are mostly in the 225-390 in AM mode. There is a great feed here under Live Audio at the top of the page. Do a search here and you will come up with a frequency list or two. Good luck.

I know where to listen. I did for 3-4 days and didn't hear that much other than a bunch of encrypted garbage, digital stuff. So you are saying there's analog freqs. other than warehouse stuff to listen too?

That's the hobby. 95+% crap listening for the few percent of great listening. I listen to a bunch of UHF/AM and only have one freq that I get encripted - 339 something - out of whidbey. The rest is all in the clear.
