Listening to 2 Canadian hay semis on 154.325 (Whatcom County Fire F4) yacking away as they drive up I5 commenting on WSP cars and lots of business BS totally un aware they are being heard all over Whatcom County :bowrofl:

Back in the 90's a buddy and I at the FD use to hear truckers from Canada coming down I5 using the SNOCOM main freq, 154.010 for BS'ing.

He always wanted to jump on and let them know that it was a fire freq, but never did.

Every so often a pair will show up on the WSP Bremerton area frequencies. I have also heard traffic "not using the WSP PL" sneaking past the squelch tail after a mobile unkeys. Occasionally strong enough to heterodyne the WSP units. One more reason to visit a local mountain...

I thought the whole WSP system was tone deaf...? Meaning 90% of the units transmit a PL but they're all configured to receive on anything (so they can hear that other 10%).

That must be a common frequency up there. A few years ago, there were some truckers out of Canada who showed up on that same freq in Spokane. Overthere, it is Cheney F.D. Admin/Fire Ground. One day after listening to them for awhile, I determined they were just down I-90 at the truck stop. I went over and found them just as they were pulling out. They were with a company called Benson Tank Lines out of Surrey, B.C.

Another one I heard Wednesday night was on 151.070. A couple of guys, whose dialect sounded Middle Eastern, chatting it up. Im guessing they were heading north but not sure. I was able to copy them clear out to Issaquah! I'd have to wonder what would happen if someone from hear went up there and did that? :!:

173.3700 those are 4 common freqs used in Western Canada, by many different users,truckers, tank lines etc, mainly all in CSQ carrier squelch mode, obviously when our dudes go down to the US , they have no clue that they could be bothering someone else's comms (thank god for ctcss) until IC & FCC perhaps put the collective boot down on this it wil continue...

I have a "Log Co Master List" from a friend north of the border I should share. It's in Word 2007 format, so it may look a little odd here. No idea what the abbreviations mean, but most of the channel names are company names. No tones either :(

One of good friends north of the border also told me there the first 4 AAR railroad channels are used for logging trucks in Canada so it can cause problems here sometimes.
