The Tulalip Tribes Police are finally moving away from their VHF simplex (no tone) at 153.815 to a UHF NB LTR repeater. Currently they have one LTR channel at 452.100 with plans for at least one more. The system is on top of the hill just west of the resort/casino. They plan to put a microwave link down to the casino and tie into the LTR controller there so they can interop with casino security.

The new 100' tower is at a new (beautiful) site with backup power. The police have also let the Tulalip Amateur Radio Club K7TUL (http://tribalhams.net) put our UHF D-Star repeater there. We were able to order feedline and antenna with the initial build out so the ham gear is installed all nice and pro. K7TUL is on 442.350MHz. We're still working on getting IP to the repeater but it's up and running for talking.

If you tune to 452.100 you should hear the LTR heartbeat every few seconds. The cops are buying Batwing radios for the upgrade.

No, just west of the hotel.

The center of the link above should be it.

This is a brand new site. Underground power and tower runs, nice big gravel lot with "cell-site" style shack. The tribal construction guys did a real nice job.

Yep, that's the one. Notice it's still licensed as being part of the Casino. The radio tech chuckled when I brought that up, he said that he has to get the sales engineer working on that. For the little that I've listened it seems that the PD likes it. Of course with the old system the most common phrase was "I'll 22 ya." And that was talking to dispatch.

So, I'm tired of listening to the LTR heartbeat every few seconds. What's a good CHEAP scanner that does LTR? How about an old batwing that I can hack a new codeplug into?

If you get voice loud enough, just turn your squelch up.

From what I understand (and what the radio tech from Action Communications understands) they eventually will be on the same trunking system but, of course, the PD will have their own home channel on the outside repeater. I understand that the casino LTR controller is good for something like 32 repeaters. Once built out the system will let the various agencies of the Tribes have talkgroups (landscaping, maintenance, housing, etc.) IMHO a good way for the Tribes to go without having to pay for SERS or Smartnet tax.

Oh, if you're wondering about fire, the reservation is split among several districts dispatched by Snopac. District 15 (station 60) covers the area around Tulalip Bay and Marysville stations 61 and 62 cover the part of the rez near I-5. I think that North County might be covering part of the area by Kyak/Firetrail. I don't have the maps in front of me right now.

We're still working on the Tulalip Tribes EOC radio system. I'll let you know when I have that built out.
