A land slide occured early this morning in the Nile Valley at mile post 107 of HWY 410 west of Naches, WA. HWY 410 is closed as the slide took out about 1/4 of a mile of road and traffic is being re-routed over forestry roads. Form the information I've gathered, the slide is blocking a river and is causing some major flooding in the area.
I was scheduled to go up there and stand-by tomorrow morning but that has been cancelled for now.
Units are also trying to lift out a man with a broken leg unknown if related to the slide. Yakima Couny Search and Rescue, YSO and Central Washington Mountain Rescue are on scene are have been since this afternoon. They are trying to coordinate with an airlift company to get him out but are having difficulties.
Nile Fire, YSO and SAR are utilizing the family of repeaters on Bethel Ridge as well as County Fire Main. Freqs:
154.2575 (91.5) - County Fire Main
155.730 (100.0) - Yakima County Sheriff's Office Bethel Repeater.
147.300 (123.0) - W7AQ Ham radio repeater on Bethel Ridge
145.270 (123.0) - WA7SAR Repeater on Quartz Mtn.
A command post has been set-up at the "Y" (HWY 12 & HWY 410 Intersection) with from what I've heard, the DEM, DOT, WSP and an EOC.
