Bellingham Bay 4th of July Fireworks Traffic Plan

BELLINGHAM 4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS TRAFFIC PLAN

People wishing to view the Bellingham Bay 4th of July fireworks display from the waterfront areas of Bellingham will need to be aware of the following traffic control plan for the entrance and exit from the main viewing areas.

One should plan to arrive early. Very little if any parking will be available after 8:00 PM. Bellingham Police Officers will be assisting traffic at this point but will have to divert most vehicle traffic out of the Roeder Avenue area. Parking on Bellwether Way, Coho Way, Hilton and C Street will be limited once the available parking areas are full. The Port of Bellingham will control the access to these areas once the available parking is full.

Once the fireworks display is finished be advised that it may take up to an hour or more to empty the area. The exit points are very limited and drivers must obey Traffic Officers and traffic directional signs.

SQUALICUM HARBOR AREA:

Drivers parked on Roeder Avenue must leave facing the way their cars are parked, no U-turns are allowed. A citation for an illegal U-turn is $124.

Please do not drive over sidewalks to exit parking areas, a citation for driving on the sidewalk is also a $124 fine.

Drivers exiting Bellwether Way will be required to make a right turn southbound on Roeder Avenue and will be directed out of the area on F Street or Chestnut Street. Traffic turning left and eastbound onto F Street will not be allowed to turn onto Holly Street but will have to make their turns at Dupont Street or Girard Street. Please use your turn signals to indicate your desire to turn at F Street (when allowed) as you approach Traffic Officers, otherwise they will assume you are headed straight and will direct you so.

Drivers exiting Coho Way will be required to turn left and diverted out Squalicum Parkway to Meridian Street. Once at Meridian Street drivers may turn right (Southbound on Meridian Street) or left (Northbound on Meridian Street).

Access to Birchwood Avenue will be closed to all northbound Meridian Street Street traffic.

Drivers parking in the Lettered Streets and Columbia Neighborhood must park legally and may not block driveways or park on lawns. Illegally parked cars will be ticketed and those blocking driveways will be towed immediately.

BOULEVARD PARK AREA:

Drivers parked along South State Street and Boulevard Street must not block the bicycle lanes or sidewalks, those doing so will be ticketed.

Drivers parked along South State Street and the Boulevard must leave in the direction they are facing when parked. No U-turns are allowed.

Traffic Officers will direct drivers exiting Boulevard Park. Please use your turn signals to indicate which direction you wish to turn.

ABSOLUTELY NO ALCOHOL, DOGS OFF LEASH or FIREWORKS ALLOWED.

There will be Police Officers on patrol for illegal fireworks, alcohol violations and dogs off leash. It is highly suggested that you leave your pets at home. All fireworks are prohibited on the Port of Bellingham Property and at all Bellingham City Parks.

Common Violations:

Fireworks Prohibited in City Parks, Alcohol Prohibited in City Parks and Engaging in activity dangerous to Public Safety are all Mandatory Municipal Court Appearance violations.

Dog at large, Dog license required and Failure to remove animal fecal matter or have equipment (containers) for fecal removal require a fine of $100-$250 upon conviction.

Our desire is that all participants and observers of the event have a safe and enjoyable experience free of annoying distractions and injury due to careless and illegal behavior.

And that's the way we celebrate the 4th in the great city of Bellingham :puke:
