While browsing though ULS I found two licenses (WQD311/WQBC493) for Seattle PD. They're PA - Public Safety 4940-4990 MHz Band. They use it for "Offical local government - law enforcement encrypted land mobile transmision in the 4940-4990 Mhz Public Safety band"

1) Why haven't I heard of this band before?
2) What equipment are they using?
3) Anything interesting going on here?

The 4.9 GHz band has been around for some time. You can find some info on it on the Region43.org web site. I will not discuss uses- that would be for the licensee.
