I am having a problem trying to enter some additional talk-group data into my WIN95 program for my RS Pro-95 and need some splanin' if someone can lend some smarts...

I downloaded the WIN95 software and have the RS USB/scanner cables. And, I have been able to upload and download from the computer program to the scanner and back, but I am still having a problem when I try to enter some "new" TG data into the Program.

After I enter the talkgroup a WIN95 window pops open that says:

Bank 5 Talk Group 0-1 "TFD F4 Fire", Invalid ID, (3413) ID must be in range 0-2047 (0-7FF HEX)

I for the life of me can not figure out what is going wrong.

Can anyone help guide me? Thanks in advance.

What system are you trying to listen to? If it's a Motorola Type II system, valid talkgroups are divisible by 16.

I BELIEVE that it is Motorola II (Des Monies, Auburn, Algona-Pacific, Enumclaw, etc) and I may have figured out that I did NOT have the "TYPE" switched from CONV to MOT at the top of the page. (SO, it seems to be accepting the TG's I am entering now).

I guess I just don't know that much about "radios" and don't quit know what all of the tabs and boxes are for on the WIN95 program.
Example: I don't know what the DEC - HEX - or AFC tabs are for next to the area that you enter the talk groups.

I accept any lessons....

I have not used the program you are using, but I think I can answer one of your questions.

The "HEX" vs. "DEC" should represent 2 different ways to enter the same "talkgroup" info.

In Motorola systems, the actual system technicians likely use the HEX values to identify each talkgroup. Hex = Hexidecimal, or counting in sixteens. 0, 1-9, A-F.

However Hex is cumbersome for non-technical folks to use, and can often be misunderstood, so many of the trunking scanners interpret those id's into decimal values.

I haven't looked at the lists here for a while, but I think they show both values. Either way, the HEX and Decimal values are just 2 different ways of looking at the same thing.
