Hi from Maury Island....

A question for the group: I know the majority of Valley Com's subscribed agencies are using their alphanumeric paging system, but I am informed that there may still subscribers using tone-activated voice (T&V) paging? If so, which frequency and which standard - Plectron, Quick Call II, etc.

73,
daniel

Thanks. FIRE1 is 154.070, right?

Do you know of any departments that are still actually monitoring this for their dispatch, rather than the alphanumeric pagers?

You're correct that Fire1 is 154.07. I don't know what they monitor now; I do know that the audio on the TRS and the audio off the VHF signal is within milliseconds of each other, meaning if you have one radio listening to the TRS in one hand and one listening to the VHF in the other it'll be like listening in stereo. Last time I was in one of the Valcom stations (10ish years ago) it was [then] FWFD Station 64, all I remember was a speaker on the wall was talking and everyone in the building left and told my party the way out.

Renton, Dist. 20, Tukwila, Maple Valley, Dist. 47, Mountain View, and the medics all still use 2 tone. Some random 2 tone pairs still go out for departments that have gone alpha (Kent, VRFA, Burien).

I'm a Dist 47 FF and we still use the voice activated pagers. However, from what Vally Com has told us, we are the only dept left on Valley Com that still actually use them. Yes, some depts still have tones that go out but they no longer carry the Minitor pagers (or any voice activated pager).

Valley Com is waiting for use to get a couple pieces of hardware installed so we can still have the horns activated at both stations. Once that is complete, they told us that the Fire 1 / VHF patch will be shut down for good. And the King Co. radio techs will be happy to see it go.

Our commissioners will vote on the hardware buy during this months meeting and if approved we should have the equipment installed in the next few months.

Here is a page I put together that has our tones along with some of the depts that roll with us.

Don't most Valley-Com agencies use 152.0075 PG.
