Hi Everyone!

Wanted to give everyone a radio update for Central Washington, which include the following counties - Kittitas, Grant, Adams, Lincoln, and Okanogan.

As of late everything is still VHF wideband analog. A few counties are using encryption for special situations. Most all new mobiles and portables being sold for law enforcement is P25 compliant. Kenwood's versions are the TK-5210 (512 channel) portable and the TK-5710 512) channel mobile.

Fire agencies have opted for the TK-790 (250 channel)(110 watt) mobile and the TK-7180 (512 channel)(50 watt) mobile and the TK-2180 (512 channel) portable.

Rumor is circulating that changes are coming. Ever so slowly, but I think we will see things continue on VHF (possibly trunking or digital).

If you like monitoring business radio, then UHF is the radio to have. I monitor plenty of traffic in the 450 area. Some DPL, but most PL toned.

If anyone is ever driving through our area, please feel free to stop by. Always glad to visit with anyone on Intercept.

Brian, another site claims that there is a second channel in use, 159.075 (M), in Central and Eastern Washington State, being used by OSSCR. Can you confirm such a channel as being in use ??

I will continue to monitor 159.075, but that is now the input to WSP/Yakima on 154.920.

If I hear anything, I will advise.

Well, yes, as a matter of fact, there was an article written back in 2003. It appeared in the Seattle Times.

Things have not changed much in 5 years here in Central Washington.

Hey Prestonbj;

Are you up to date on the north central counties?
I cruise around up in Okagnogan & Ferry county(s).
It would be nice to compare notes.
