Just got a call from Wil and he was just going into a meeting but he said VHF lowband is open and he was hearing skip in the 40 MHz regions. Time to do some searching down there! :D

Late update.

Army convoy on I5 near Southcenter on 30.000 (150.0) Sabre units yakking with Snake units.

Also got a few hits I skipped past around 42.560 (some sort of traffic hazard) and maybe 42.260. Was busy looking for the convoy.

Update:

As of 3:20pm today now geo mag shows unsettled and fair daytime poor night conditions above 24 MHz.

No hits today.

If anyone is interested, I just happen to see this last weekend. If I had the spare cash I'd probably pick it up...

About the 12th item down... a Datron HH7700 portable with programming kit.

In an attempt to get back on the air today, I tried to nurse my neighbor-destroyed coax to life...and ended up splicing in about a foot of speaker wire... one lead for the shield, one lead for the center conductor.. A for effort.. F for implementation. (Source? Anyone? Anyone?).

Anyhow, for the few brief minutes it worked (until the cat sat on the wire and I gave up and went for coffee), I was getting hammered by low band skip....lots of southern accents and, between 29.7 and 30 or so, a metric ton of Spanish taxi dispatching. Also, on 31.5xx (didn't write it down) a guy calling unheard stn saying he was 20 minutes from Enid and would need help with the skid steer loaders.

Find any yet?

I was getting the CHP up at the Hood Canal bridge and a bit beyond today.

Yeah, coax was replaced over the weekend. Poor Jim got an earful about it. Via email.
