Komo has a breaking news banner up saying a park ranger has been shot near the entrance to Mt. Rainier. I am to far in the City today to pick up anything out there, anyone hearing anything? http://www.komonews.com/news/local/Park ... 05028.html |

Pierce County Sheriff is on East (154.950) right now with the beeper on and a rescue team going in to try and pull out the ranger that's been shot. Just before they went up they were saying that shots were being fired in the area. Other units are on LERN and can be heard on the Tacoma TRS. |

I'm only hearing the Tacoma WSP dispatcher on LERN so far, said something about State units staging somewhere. I may be too far north to hear the other frequencies from Pierce County and the Park. |

Now one of the units on PCSD East was saying shots fired and that they have the Ranger. |

PCSD was saying they might have a suspect; I couldn't understand the location named. Road conditions are hampering efforts, units with Crown Vics are being told to stage at the Longmire entrance, units with Tahoes or Expeditions are ferrying other officers. PCSD has a unit with quads and/or snowmobiles enroute. They're asking for JBLM or Yakima County to provide air support, KCSO Guardian and Sno County air are unavailable. |

Pierce County PIO- "The shooting happened near the Longmire Ranger Station in Mount Rainier National Park about 10:30 a.m. The park is now closed and troopers are at the gate turning people away. The female ranger was shot when she made a felony stop. The suspect shot the ranger and then fled on foot, leaving his vehicle behind. Before responders could reach the ranger, the suspect fired at them, keeping them at bay. But they reached her at about 12:45 p.m. The suspect has a long rifle. The ranger radioed for help after she had been shot." |

Park Spokesman have announced that the ranger has passed. She is identified as 34-year-old Margaret Anderson. She is married and has two children, ages approximate 2 and 4. |

I heard the activity on LERN and OSCCR (or is it OSCRR?) Smokey was up providing air support. It sounded like a pretty rough area. They said Crown Vics couldn't make it all the way out. |
