CHELAN COUNTY, Wash.— The Chelan County Fire District #1 confirmed Monday one of their members died.
Authorities said Chief Garet Rasmussen had passed away.
Wenatchee radio station KPQ reported he was found unresponsive in his home around 8 A.M. Sunday by a family member. However, Spokane Fire District cited Rasmussen died in the line of duty.
Chief Rasmussen’s last call was to a car crash just before 2 A.M. Sunday. The Chelan Fire District said it is working on a press release with more information.
Flags at fire stations, state-wide, will be lowered to half staff until Rasmussen is laid to rest.
