Never have I heard of water starting a house on fire. Who would have thought. BELLEVUE, Wash. -- A bowl of water in the sunlight sparked a blaze that destroyed a part of a local home on Sunday. Fire investigators said a partially-filled glass bowl sitting on a wire rack on the home provided optimal conditions for the sunlight to focus and eventually start a fire. Investigators said the fire started at a home in the 17100 block of Northeast Fifth Street just before 3 p.m. while homeowners were away. Neighbors noticed flames and smoke and called firefighters who doused the flames and rescued the family dog. Damage is estimated at about $215,000. |

I believe we are talking about two different fires. but i have never heard of that either. sounds quite strange to me. what are the odds? |

Fire Destroys Kingsgate Home Posted: 1:50 pm PDT May 18, 2009 Updated: 4:26 pm PDT May 18, 2009 A raging fire has destroyed a Kingsgate home, video from Chopper 7 shows. The video shows firefighters from Bothell and Kirkland spraying water on the home as flames consumed the roof. Crews sprayed water on the roof of a neighboring home so the fire wouldn't spread. SLIDESHOW: Fire Burns Out Of Control At Eastside Home The crew of Chopper 7 was returning from another assignment when they saw a large column of smoke rising over the Bothell-Woodinville area at about 1:50 p.m. The chopper arrived to find the roof of a home ablaze. Minutes later, little of the roof was left. There is no immediate word on injuries, but video showed no medic units at the scene. |
