Power failure... No commercial, No generator, and the UPS batteries are dead...

Apparently Olympia area is dispatched out of the same facility, comms with Tacoma/Olympia troopers are being handled on adjacent area frequencies!!!!!

Already have heard activity from these areas handled on the Bremerton area (154.665)

and as a result phone lines into the Bremerton District office are jammed up and Mason County has resulted to using LERN to relay traffic...

Fun Stuff, Stay tuned...

Add Seattle South (154.680) to the list... Now being dispatched from Bremerton, "priority" traffic only

Wonder if any of this has to do with the commercial power outage up on Capitol Peak knocking out some critical microwave... The DNR "new" site genset has not been taking up the load when this occurs... Verified due to operational anomalies associated with ham repeaters on that site, specifically the K5IN repeaters...

Still doesn't explain the situation in Tacoma and Seattle though... Could the generator maintenance have been deferred (budget cuts) to the point of affecting
operations in a "real" emergency :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

I KNOW there is a backup genset at Bremerton area... Probably why it is still on the air...

I was surprised how long to took for someone to post this...

Guess the trailer-ed backup generators must have been busy elsewhere...

Now hearing what passes for "normal" traffic on Seattle South, so things looking like they may be getting back to ""normal""

Will have to check Tacoma air...

I was "monitoring the situation" and seeing that nobody else aware of the situation had bothered I figured that as long as I had commercial power and a functioning internet connection         :D

Will have to check the "noisemedia" to see if they "picked up" on any of this

Yep- Just in case I guess... in case the primary generator fails.

There is always that...

Over the years I have heard some really good stories about "back-up" gensets... and installed standby gensets... Knuckleheads shutting down the air-operated automatic transfer switch supply compressor to "save energy"... and the HF fixed station operator wondering why the transfer switch didn't operate correctly, and manually putting the 50KW transmitters back on line after manually operating the switch...

...Borrowing car batteries from neighborhood cars and paralleling them to the dead backup genset starting batteries with "frame wire" (this was at a telco central office that lost commercial power and was running at 100% traffic, with an hour of capacity left in the office battery bank)

And on and on... Really no excuse for what happened to WSP...
But their contingency plan, despite being confusing to the users as they have to my knowledge never had to do what they did, still worked to keep the troopers "on the air"

Capitol Pk was dead for awhile. Thurston Public works went off the air, along with most of the ham, WSP, TV remote pickuo 450mhz, etc. Most fire districts were or still are doing their own non priority dispatching on ECC or other freqs due to traffic. Just about every other fire call is a down line.
