CENTRAL YAKIMA COUNTY IN SOUTH CENTRAL WASHINGTON...

* UNTIL 645 PM PDT

* AT 342 PM PDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED
FLASH FLOODING FROM A THUNDERSTORM OVER THE WARNED AREA. SLOW
MOVING THUNDERSTORMS OVER AND TO THE WEST OF RIMROCK RESERVOIR ARE
PRODUCING VERY HEAVY RAIN. RADAR ESTIMATES OF UP TO 2.5 INCHES
RAINFALL HAVE OCCURRED IN THE HEADWATERS OF THE TIETON RIVER. THIS
MAY CAUSE HIGH FLOWS FROM RIMROCK RESERVOIR TO THE CONFLUENCE OF THE
NACHES RIVER. IN ADDITION...RAPID RUNOFF AND ROCKSLIDES MAY OCCUR
ALONG STEEP TERRAIN ALONG THE HIGHWAY 12 CORRIDOR.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF AROUND 1 INCH ARE POSSIBLE IN THE
WARNED AREA.

MOST FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. NEVER DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO
AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. FLOOD WATERS ARE USUALLY
DEEPER THAN THEY APPEAR. JUST ONE FOOT OF FLOWING WATER IS POWERFUL
ENOUGH TO SWEEP VEHICLES OFF THE ROAD. WHEN ENCOUNTERING FLOODED
ROADS MAKE THE SMART CHOICE...TURN AROUND...DONT DROWN.
