So I was reviewing some video from yesterday when I noticed something odd. The phone/camera was mounted to the windshield and not being touched, yet occasionally the whole frame jerks to the right as though it were being adjusted. http://youtu.be/vIp19vAMWx0 See, for example, 17 seconds, or 2 minutes and 19 seconds. Thoughts? |

(No need to bring up my incident from a few years ago; that was sliding on ice). Third thought is you're using a shitty mount. You could try to blame it on the rolling shutter. That's not the problem, but just for kicks, stick a ND filter on the front. |

Atomic Taco wrote: First thought is operator error. Yes, because pushing "record" and "stop recording" are difficult tasks. That was west of the pass. Also, no chains needed on AWD vehicles (on that date and time, at least). Atomic Taco wrote: Third thought is you're using a shitty mount. Seems solid enough. I don't know what an ND filter is, nor how to stick one on my phone's camera. |

Could it be an anomaly due to a feature like Facetime or some other manufacturer's equal? Our iPhone will sometimes not track properly when trying to record an open field of video such as that. We had to turn off the facetime feature so that it didn't try to track some landscape feature that the phone software thought it should. Something maybe to try. |

No FaceTime for Wil, he is a BlackBerry guy. |

Hmmm, ok. It sure looks like the camera is trying to quickly move to a feature in the field of view. Wil - is the box for "Image Stabilization" checked or unchecked on the options page? Reverse whatever it is set for (if you haven't yet tried that). Maybe also check to see what "Scene Mode" is configured to. Make sure it is not set to "Auto" and instead set "Landscape" to see if that changes anything. |

Maybe it was trying to focus on this and it couldn't. :D

How funny. I was trying to find that well used pic of the blond hitching a ride on a snowy road wearing only the Santa coat and hat. That would be even a better reason for the camera lens to stray, or better yet - Wil's car. It would explain a lot.

Here's a better clip of what I've been talking about- http://youtu.be/aZwpLRSnZEU That's with the "image stabilization" off, and there's no facial-recognition enabled. Also, the mount is rock-steady...That was the first thing I checked. |

search your camera on youtube and see if its a design flaw. If others are seeing it also. Id bet something to do with one of the self centering functions that refuses to die. Whether its just yours or all of them. |

It nearly seems to do it on some of the passing cars in this video. http://youtu.be/8P-qKChkFmI I don't truly care about this issue, I was just curious exactly what it was doing the movement for. |

Any tips on increasing quality in night video? It's already set for "HD", which is 720p (fortunately I'm running a 32gb micro SD card for recording). I'd hate to move to something like this or this(front-facing), but right now using the Blackberry seems like the easiest solution. Give me time, though...I may move to multiple GoPros (front/rear/interior). |
