Post subject:  Cell Phone & Driving in British Columbia

Last week I crossed the border from Washington State into British Columbia and noticed a new sign about 1 block after entering Canada.
It showed a cell phone and said it was illegal to talk on a cell phone in British Columbia while driving. Just a mile or so north of the border Costco had lots
of new blue tooth headsets for sale.

Does anyone know what the law states? Is it similar to the Washington State
law that makes using a cell phone while driving illegal? The Washington State law is only enforced when another law is broken. It also has some exceptions like provisions for amateur radio operators licensed by the FCC and a few other things that I can't remember at this moment?

Anyone know what the law states exactly?

This is what I came across so far...

Yes, its the same as the WA & OR laws.

However, someone else pointed out to me that the law assumes every ham driving around in BC has a licensed issued by Industry Canada. So us US hams who go into BC and append a /VE7 onto our callsign are in a gray area as we are operating under reciprocal authority of Industry Canada only.
