There are several departments in California that have USAR (Urban Search and Rescue) rigs like this based on the tiller driven ladder concept. With some limited access streets in Southern California, has has been proven that these rigs are easier to turn on the streets and if the cab portion of the rig is out of service for mechanical or whatever, they can attach the trailer part to another rig instead of taking the whole rig out of service.

Nice rig -- but just a tad bit too large to take on a camping trip.

That is a nice looking but I hope that is is a heavy rescue, and does not roll on every MVA. It's kind of overkill for that.

I know a lot of departments put the rescue tools on ladder trucks, and roll on every MVA with any impact. I understand staffing has a bit to do with that, but I just don't think putting a truck worth over 3/4 of a million dollars on the road for an MVA is cost effective.
