Has this feature been around long? http://maps.google.com/help/maps/streetview/index.html#utm_campaign=en&utm_source=en-ha-na-us-google-svn&utm_medium=ha&utm_term=street%20view I just discovered it last week while entering a neighbors address after a fire call. They had burnt food on the stove!.....LOL

I haven't seen any mention of it on the scanning sites, so thought I'd bring it up if others weren't aware of it. Kinda creepy really and I would think it has the privacy groups up in arms. If you click on the little man Icon and hover it over the Satelite map you'll see the roads turn blue where they've done the street level view. You can take a vitrual drive up and down the roads, rotate and zoom.

Great if I hear an address over the air and want to check it out. I'm surprised how much they've done in our state with much of E.WA photographed and out here in the toolies where I live. There's no escaping the watchful eye above or on the street now!..... :D

Its been around for a while. Its nice that Google can show it from the street but keep in mind that Microsoft shows detailed aerial views for many areas which is much more useful for spotting antenna towers or things which are not visible from the street. Microsoft also has street view.

Google added Seattle around September 2008. The photos were taken between June and August of that year.

The Bing version is pretty cool. It looks like they're actually using those laser distance sensor thingeys. Google has them, but the current version doesn't utilize the data. Microsoft took that data to determine where buildings are and made a 3D model out of it.

Microsoft actually beat Google the first time around. Keep in mind this was just a pilot project:
