Been wondering for years what's underneath the park, as accessed through the doors pictured below. Any ideas?

That used to be the old entrance to the courthouse. At one point back in the dark ages, that was the radio shop.

We call the area Muscatel Meadows.

MD 20/20 Meadows would be more appropriate.

That tunnel under Musketell (SP) Meadows leads to the basement of the Court House, which used to double as the Sally Port. Take your prisoner to the elevator and then up to the 10th-floor before they built the 'new' County Jail between 5th & 6th, and the new 'cat-walk' from the new jail to the court house over the roof of the Admin. Building.

Back when I delivered the PI to the Courthouse ( including people in the jail ) there were a LOT of parking spaces in that basement. And the Coroner. This would be late 50's early 60's.
When I started my LE carrier, there were still a lot of parking spaces down there, and it WAS the primary "entrance" for taking people to Unit One of the jail, or for picking up warrants from the COMM center before you could book people at Units 2 and 3 in the Seattle Public Safety building.
We used to store the Bomb Disposal trailer down there too.
If you ever get close to the loading dock above that you can still see the marble floors that show the Courthouse entrance originally was towards The Meadows( south side ), before it was moved to the west side.
I don't remember the radio shop there, but I bet it was before they built the parking garage.
Too long ago...
