A USSTRATCOM exercise started this morning so 8992 and 11175 should be target-rich frequencies. |

Can you upload an audio file of it? I'll need to hear it to be sure. I'll check tonight and see if I can hear something on that freq. |

Just listened to 7038 and heard W7WE calling CQ with no takers. That was from Bellingham. Could also hear some other CW activity on the freq. QRZ shows his QTH as Reno. He was RST 599. No other weird signals heard on the freq. :?: :?: :?: Saw your link to Intercept on QRZ :D 73 |

Killed the breakers to the house today and ran on DC only... guess what its gone, should tried that before I posted but the kicker was the other QTH has the same problem that stumped me. and it just popped up 2 weeks ago also a stumper. back to the electrical work and shielded network cable.. uhg.

Can't tell from the sound clip. Sounds like you found the source. Possibly a harmonic of something in the router or who knows :?: :?: :?: |

You need to listen in AM mode. It probably sounds like a high-pitched noise in AM. If you have a ethernet router/switch/hub nearby, then you might be picking it up. Also, cable modems are notorious for EMI too. Buy a portable SW radio (even the cheap ones will do) and walk around the house with it. You'll be amazed at what kind of EMI crap you can hear from various devices. Those dimmer light switches are also notorious for EMI. Also, try running in DC mode but leave the breakers on and see if you hear this noise. If you don't - now you know why I run only on battery power! :D You can buy an isolation transformer from ICE if you want to run AC. Their "AC Line Filter" |

even better I have a ICR20 that I can set on frequency! so yes good tip on how to locate!! the recording was just on the 756 where I hit the button while it was still on USB but good idea to try AM for noise hunting that's how I found the issue with Ethernet, problem is that I replaced the switch and still an issue but its the switch! (when I unplug the new or old switch noise dissipate but reappear on plug back in DOH!) I think I might have another issue, like AC near CAT5 that is carrying the signal. The fun continues that the antenna is about 30Ft away from the house, and the equipment is all grounded etc. but it wasn't there a while ago, the other house has the exact same noise and location on the dial (even more crazy)(hence my question post thinking environment in the KC area) I have now flipped to all new 3750's to try to isolate the problem and my noise is still the same noise as the adtran gear (and same noise as some linksys at the other house). totally wacky if you ask me. also they started up about the same time give a week or so. so its very confounding how EMI could just pop up the same. but again I think its AC on the CAT5 now. yes my old QTH had cable modem problems I had intermod of like 12 channels on HF it was maddening thankfully its not a large comcast area that I live in now, people all have Qwest and Dish I might take up that idea on DC ran station soon, just a matter of logistics still on battery storage. |

Have you tried some of those ferrite chokes you can get from RS and clamp on the offending cable? Or did you already fix the problem? Sounds like it's a common-mode signal propagating and those chokes should help reduce or eliminate it. Was just checking the ARRL Handbook on the issue. On another issue, do you have any hum problems connecting anything to your sound card? K9YC has an interesting write-up on how to fix the Pin 1 problems. http://audiosystemsgroup.com/K9YC/k9ycant.htm |

I dont have huge Hum issues but I do have horrible RF back into my radio I solve this with a ground strap to the PC which I shouldn't need. Im also going to replace the rigblaster with a tigerlink device which outright eliminates the sound quality issues. I would love this one http://usinterface.com/ but dont have that money, its made somewhere in the 360 BTW this guy has written up stuff on every problem I have ever had! Rad! 73 and TU |
