Post subject:  Grounding question

Fellow HF folk,

Our house is copper plumbing througout, and I'm pretty sure our electrical main is grounded to both a pair of ground rods and said water piping.

Would this also make a good ground for an HF antenna, or should I run a separate ground rod (or two? Any advantage to using a pair?)

Comments appreciated. Thanks much.

There's no reason what you have shouldn't work.
If you're sure all the pipes are copper then go for it.
I would suggest taking a bit of steel wool or sandpaper to the place you're
going to attach your ground wire to. Nothing like a good clean shiny
connection.
I go outside at least quarterly and inspect my ground rod and antenna.
I undo the acorn clamp, shine up the wire with some sandpaper and do
the same with the ground rod.
