So I have been playing with a new P25 receiver Phase 1 and 2, DMR and NXDN are available but still being worked out. This works great with simulcast systems.

It was designed and supported locally here in Washington. It is designed to operate standalone as well as with software.
I have been working with the designer tweaking firmware to fix minor issues, he has been extremely responsive.
This is the most cost effective solution to the simulcast issue I have found. It can operate standalone for going mobile. The software is open source.
Here is audio from the Tacoma simulcast site of the WSP 700 system.

I'm not affiliated with the maker, just a hobbiest. This has a lot of potential.
Currently listen to SS911 Orting simulcast from South King County with excellent audio.

I still don't see the fascination with this device. The only thing that might be useful is if someone wrote custom software for tracking systems/TGIDs/RIDs...
