Hello all I'm looking for anyone that has one of the new scanners that has the close call feature built in, and if so give a short review please.

Totally kicks ass on the Scout. I have been amazed how well it works. You said short and there are too many good stories. I'm going to quote a Fedcom post today:

On a related note for anyone that hasn't used the "close call" functions on
the new scanner they are cool. I bought a 396 several weeks ago and some day
I've got to use the radio function, currently I'm just running close call.
Side by side with a scout the scout will get the short data type xmitters
more often/quicker but for a voice transmission the 396 is great. I suspect
they had to do the button push to see the frequency to avoid stepping on
Opto's patent and that's the only complaint I have with the device.
Considering the size and cost (both slightly larger) the scout may get
replaced with a 396 dedicated to run close call.

BACK TO MARK HERE

The 396 will search(close call) and store and frankly I don't remember a receiver that would search and store since the Bearcat 2?? (it wasn't the 210 and I don't think it was the220. I'm sure there must have been one I just didn't own it - until now...

The PRO-97's "signal stalker" kicks butt too. I stood at Boeing Field during SeaFair with it and the "signal stalker" stopped on all the Blue Angel frequencies as they flew over and taxied by on the ground. I highly recommend it.
