Don't set off the EMER button of the portable radio you just lifted. http://www.komotv.com/stories/36007.htm It tends to piss off the on duty crew. |

Post subject: | EMER Button |
The EMER button is on most radios today. In most cases it's an orange button. When pushed it transmits an emergency signal to the dedicated dispatch center. The dispatcher receives the ESN (a identification number) number and thru a data base can identify the person that the radio is assigned to. Firefighters and Police officers use this system when there in trouble. These smart individuals pushed the button on the radio and set off the alarms in dispatch. Dispatch realized they had an emer activation from a radio that wasn't assigned to a call. They called the station to see what the problem was. |
