Sounds like a scam, I would stay away from them. Here is why:

- "About Us" on their webpage says nothing about the company or the name(s) of any senior staff.
- They don't show any contact information involving a persons name, physical street address, or local phone number.
- They attempt to conceal the ownership information for "trbowest.com".

This is just a basic consumer tip. Don't do business with a company which can't meet these three simple pieces of criteria on their website. A legitimate business would have no reason to conceal this information.

Rich, I hear ya... but I got the tip thru the monthly DayWireless junk email -- err newsletter. They're the owners. This all goes live on 11/1 according to the newsletter.

Quote:
Day Wireless announces the availability of the TRBOWEST Digital Network beginning November 1st, 2011. The digital two-way radio network consists of 13 mountaintop sites, spanning over 400 highway miles from the Canadian border to south of Eugene, Oregon. TRBOWEST offers a low, flat rate for unlimited digital two-way radio and data communication. TRBOWEST operates as an independent business entity, but is owned by Day Wireless Systems. Future expansion of the TRBOWEST coverage area is planned within Oregon and Washington, and roaming agreements will be made for connecting with other regional networks.

It is Day Wireless their address was on the main page

TrboWest
PO Box 22161
Milwaukie, OR 97269

That PO box is Day's. Hardly a scam, why they don't mention who they are is unknown by me, but a search for trbowest also links to some videos on YouTube by Puget Sound Instrument Company, Inc. From the looks of the coverage the two companies combined their systems for a larger footprint. Google is your friend.

Its a sub company of Day Wireless with Motorola pushing their buttons to do it....

The southern part of the system has been up for almost a year now.

Ive got a few radios Ill be testing on it and to demo the system shortly.

Its hoped by them that the Nextel users that are about to be put into never never land will find a new home.

There's some back story to the awesome coverage they kind of are predicting...
The best way I can explain it is for some of the small business that will be displaced for two way service by the slow winding down of Nextel over the next 5 years, Motorola is "working" with its dealers to provide with an option to go to MotoTRBO regional systems for these customers.

Nextel is rumored to be going away by the middle of 2013. Thats only a year and a half away...

Eventually they want to have total west coast coverage by partnering with a system already in operation in California. So border to border coverage...

Pretty cool if you can stomach the price of the radios...

So...

If one has a TRBO radio can one monitor these frequencies -- i.e. are they segmented to specific radios by a radio ID? I see that TRBO radios have encryption as an option, but if they don't use that, can the TRBO frequencies be monitored?

Yeah, they can; the issue is when there's two conversations on the same repeater.
