Why not just get a tuned 1/4 wave whip NMO with the proper mount. Cost would be around $25-30 total... |

5540 divided by 150 divided by 2 is the size of your 1/4 wave whip. 18.46 inches |

Sorry, I was not clear. I meant my mobile handheld. I'm assuming those antennas need a decent ground plain to work properly? |

I use em on my slicktops on the side fender to help hide em due to them being a tad shorter than a 5/8 gain 1443. They work very well with or without groundplane... |
