Post subject: | Discriminator Tap PRO-43 Mod |
So I found someone here at work that will mod my PRO-43 for me. And I have a couple questions. 1. Only site I could find with info about the mod is below. Anyone have another or better link with instructions? 2. The parts required. Is this something I can pick up at Radio Hack? Thanks in advance |

I found a picture of it. Looks simple. Series resistor and cap. ![]() |

I'm about to do this mod to my scanner. Is it best to use a mono jack at the scanner side and then adapt to stereo at the mic input at the sounds card? Or use a stereo jack at the scanner side and tie the one lead from the d-tap in to both left and right on the jack? Thanks. |

Mono is fine. You can get a mono cable at RS for cheap and that will plug into sound card fine. I went even cheaper and used an old PC microphone (the long neck kind) and cut off its cable and used it as the input. :) |

Thanks. I ended up picking up a 1/8 mono during lunch. Getting it mounted in inside the case is going to be tricky. But I think I can make it happen. |

Here is another project I finished. Happy to say that the d-tap helped out the decoding quite a bit. I was able to squeeze in the audio jack inside the case by cutting some of the case away. It fits where the kapton tap is laid down on the board. It was a very tight fit. I miscalculated where the hole for mounting the jack needed to be. But, it works fine. Those solder joints don't look too sexy but they'll probably be okay. Grats -- glad it works now. What are you monitoring with it -- pager stuff or trunking channels? |

Hard to solder in such a small area. But ya, it will work. I've been using it for FD pager stuff. 152.0075 |
