Interesting article, but clearly written by a non-radio head.

The WAVE Twisted Pair product is pretty neat, . . . but it won't do MDC1200, or sequential two-tone, . . . so we're considering the Motobridge product now for the NWRIC project.

Meanwhile, Kenwood is sitting back wishing they had anything remotely similar

Zetron (Kenwood) just announced an RoIP product at APCO and there's some really amazing stuff coming out around IWCE 2011.

Update: Found out the plan is to have the RoIP solution support MDC-1200 and two-tone paging.

Something that came out of our state mobed Cowiche Mill Fire in which one of our trucks were burnt up, they have finally come to the conclusion that we dont have enough tac channels and such. (I could have told them that a long time ago, but I'm sure it would have been as well received as my suggestion to tone our tac channels county-wide to avoid interference). :horse:

ANYWAYS, in our AAR last night, the topic of radios and frequencies came up and I managed to keep my mouth shut. (Yes, it was hard listening to brass say that there were 8 VTAC/VCALL channels) It was suggested that we start using those VTAC/VCALL frequencies that people have been seeing in their ill-programmed radios but have no idea what they used for.

Going through my radio to confirm the exact frequencies of those as well as the SIRC's I have in there, I wanted to figure out what the SIRC's were for. Found out they're repeater pairs for the State Incident Response Cache.

Nice PDF file here on state-wide OSCCR use as well as these VTAC/VCALL, SIRC, LERN etc...might be old news but it's going into my files as I don't have it already.
