Post subject: | Speech Inversion on 147.300 |
Between 7:05 and 7:15 PM PDT Oct 20th I noticed 2 stations using what sounded like speech inversion scrambling on 147.300 mhz. The stations were simplex and seemed to be in motion based on signal variations. Is there any software that can decode this? Kerwin North Seattle |

My icom r7000 used to defeat the old mororola speech inversion cordless phones by simply hitting the single side band buttion and doing a little tuneing. Is it possible you heard a ham in ssb mode? |

It sure seemed like FM carrier modulated by inverted speech. I don't have the abiltity to TX or RX SSB on that band but it didn't sound like SSB. |

It's not SSB, it's just that that mode makes it so you can hear speech inversion. Another way to get clear communications is with two FRS radio's with the speech inversion option. Transmit the audio from the scanner on one FRS radio - with the speech inversion turned off. Turn inversion on on the other (receiving) FRS radio and you are in business with clear voice. -m |

Just a quick question for you guys.. Is speech inversion allowed on US Ham Bands? Here it's considered a form of encryption (low tech I know, even CSIS could break it) |
