If you look at the ham shack pic under the arrl flag and just to the right of it is a hq-180 hammarlund. It sorta matches the ones i used to work on in the service. I used to work on stuff older than that even. Try a rotating phenolic doughnut with 6 turns of wire wrapped on it and glued suspended inside a copper coil of tubing to set the freq in a tube system.
