If I see something like this in PDW: 0800864 17:24:17 27-11-09 POCSAG-1 NUMERIC 512 012428110980361*12 Does this mean the paging system is using encrypted text? |

encoded not encrypted. pagers can send predefined text or tones. AFAIK there is no such thing as a consumer encryption in pager in the POCSAG this would be a separate system "we don't know about" encryption on pager systems with technology that I am aware of as current in consumer public gear would be pointless the basis of how pager systems work would allow you do basically reverse any encryption very easy. there are closed systems for hospitals etc that can page but they would require equipment and software that isn't available to john doe and PDW cant do. |
